I have created a website for a non-profit, student run organization that I helped start when I was in high school. This organization was prompted when I saw the powerful, compelling, and moving documentary called "Invisible Children Rough Cut". This movement inspiring documentary was put together by 3 college age students from California who went to Uganda, Africa back in 2003.
To make along story short, I saw the film, told the moderator of the club that we had to do something about the terrible civli war that is happening and is leaving thousands of children displaced, abducted into the rebel armies, and with no education. The result was the forming of the student organization named Unified for UNFIAT. The Upper Nile Institute for Appropriate Technology is the name of the school the student group sponsors (UNIFAT) and is known as one of the top primary schools in Northern Uganda.
This website is meant to organize, inform, and draw attention to the student group and the fundraisers, events, and screenings (the showing of the Invisible Children movie) that they do, so as to better unite the front of change.
What you will experience is up-to-date information on the happenings of all the schools involved. You will also be able to see pictures from events and screenings that this group has done. The sponsorship program (under the Sponsor a Child tab) will show the profiles of all the children that local area high schools are helping to put through school, and changing lives. I encourage you to explore the site, and learn as much as you can about the desperate situation in Uganda.
*the media (movies and such) were put together by me also, hope you enjoy!)
