For Sam, an essential part of the Wilks experience is asking old questions in new ways and discovering new questions in that process. Like many of his peers he is looking forward to getting to know everyone else in the program. |
| Ryan Verbic: Shaping Sustainable Communities | Ryan is a Junior Zoology major. As a Wilks Scholar Ryan feels responsible for using his opportunities productively and working hard to enact changes in Oxford that will allow the area to sustain its viability in the future. |

For Rachel, being a Wilks scholar means being apart of something that can evoke change as a first step towards getting people involved and creating awareness. In the coming year Rachel is excited to work with such a diverse group of people and have an opportunity to build a relationship with the local community. |
| Mia DeNardi: Acting Locally | Mia is a Senior Geography and Urban and Regional Planning Major. Through Acting Locally Mia has learned to piece all elements of her education at Miami together and apply that information to a practical problem. |
| Meghan Kaple: Shapping Sustainable Communities | Meghan is a Sophomore Architecture major. She is excited about Wilks programming being a consistent in her education for a full two years and incorporating learning, observing, and ultimately solving problems. One of the aspects Meghan values about the Wilks experience is that she will become close with her cohort and benefit from their collaborations. |
| Kate Ceronie:Shaping Sustainable Communities | Kate is a junior English major. Kate views the meaning of the Wilks experience as an opportunity to be active in the Oxford community and learning about how any community can be made more sustainable. |
| Joe Wingenfeld: Acting Locally | Joe is a Senior Urban and Regional Planning Major with a minor in Music Performance. Joe utilizes Wilks as an avenue to contribute his talents and abilities to community work. This year Joe is looking forward to working in Middletown and working on downtown redevelopment and coalition building. |

One of the things he is most looking forward to this year is his work with the Latino population of Southwest Ohio. |

| Heath Ingram: Acting Locally | Heath is a Junior Public Administration Major. For Heath being is Wilks Scholar means having the desire to work for the greater good of the general public and developing a leadership style that is conducive towards that end. This year Heath is looking forward to working with the solicitor of of Cincinnati to address issues affecting the city. |
| Elizabeth Garrett | Liz is junior American Studies and Linguistics major with a minor in German. For Liz, being a Wilks Scholar means that she gets to actively learn and grow. Her experience thus far in has defined her experience at Miami and helped her realize a potential career in law. |
| Dasha O'Leary: Shaping Sustainable Communities | Dasha is a Junior Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs major with a minor in Russian. For Dasha being a Wilks Scholar means to be given the opportunity to engage in the community and exercise the freedom and creativity to put plans into action. |
| Chelsea Sharp:Shaping Sustainable Communities | Chelsea is a Junior with a double major in Environmental Science and Marketing. To her, being a Wilks Scholar means going beyond just formulating ideas, and progressing onto putting them into action. Chelsea is looking forward to the opportunities her cohort experience will provide her with that she would not otherwise have, as well as the benefits of a group experience. |
| Bethany Bower: Acting Locally | Bethany is a senior Public Administration and Urban and Regional Planning Major. Being a Wilks Scholar has allowed Bethany to expand her education outside of the classroom and practice her skills in leadership. From the Acting Locally program she has learned to take the initiative to work for the public and think beyond herself. |

She is most excited about the mutual resourcefulness she will have with her cohort as well as gaining experience in sustainable planning.
