On August 21st 2009 at the Bicentennial Convocation, nine students received the Provost Student Academic Achievement Award. The award is to recognize the students for outstanding academic achievement and notable contributions to the intellectual climate of Miami. Two of the winners, Benjamin Walker and Mike Eilers are Wilks Scholars in the Scholar Leader program.
This past year Mike worked on the Miami Heritage Technology Park project using his skills in engineering management and Benjamin created a pedagogical research project that tied together mathematics education and social justice. These recent projects are just a small piece of what these scholars have done over their time at Miami. We congratulate Mike and Benjamin on their success and wish them well in their future endeavors. Click here to read the whole story on the award winners and see their bios.
