Welcome

Hello and welcome to the web site for the Office of Second Year Programs at Miami University.  This office was created to better prepare sophomores for continued success academically and personally, to help sophomore students connect to Miami University, and help focus university resources on the needs of sophomore students.

This program is unique in that it is a second-year program for the entire campus being offered at a large state university.  Typically second-year programs on large campuses are offered only through Living Learning Communities to a small number of students.  Because of our goal of focusing on all Miami sophomores, the second-year residency requirement was created.

This office partners with many different resources on campus in order to bring programming to students through three main avenues:

First: Through the second-year residency requirement and Residence Life programming

Second: Through programming within the Fraternity community

Third: Programming directly through this office or in collaboration with other resources on campus.

Programming is offered in four main thematic areas:

  • Career exploration and commitment to major
  • Local and global citizenship
  • Connecting academic experiences
  • Health and well being
