SOUL References
Student Orientation Undergraduate Leader (SOUL) Application Information
Students applying for the Student Orientation Undergraduate Leader (SOUL) or Returner SOUL position must have two letters of recommendation submitted on their behalf. The letters of recommendation will be included in the student’s SOUL application file. SOUL applicants should select references who can comment on their ability to be a SOUL (refer to the SOUL position description for specific details). One of the references must be employed by Miami University (i.e. RA, First Year Advisor, Professor, Advisor, Employer, etc.). SOUL applicants may not use family members as references.
Directions for SOUL References
Please review the SOUL position description here. After reviewing the SOUL position description, please write a letter of recommendation for the SOUL applicant addressing the areas below. When possible, please include examples that speak to what degree the applicant would be a positive representation of Miami University.
- How long and in what capacity do you know the applicant
- Leadership skills and abilities of the applicant
- Teamwork, collaboration, and ability to work closely with others
- The applicant's character
After writing the letter of recommendation, please complete the webform below. The last field on the form will allow you to attach your letter of recommendation as a Word document. Clicking on the "browse" button will allow you to select the recommendation letter saved on your computer to upload. Please be sure to save a copy of your letter so that it will be easy to re-send the letter if requested by the Office of New Student Programs.
