Move In Day

It’s almost time to move-in! First year halls will officially open at 9:00am (EDT) on Thursday, August 20. You will be able to check-in between 9:00am and 5:30pm on that day. You will receive your room key and general hall information when you check in. Meal Plans begin at lunchtime on Thursday, August 20, and classes begin on Monday, August 24.

Please help the move-in process run smoothly for everyone by following the instructions of posted signs, police, and staff. Please refrain from driving and/or parking on the grass. We recommend quickly unloading your vehicle at the curb of your hall, and then allowing someone to keep watch while you move your car to Millett Hall for parking. Shuttles will operate all day to transport you to and from Millett Hall.

If you would like to move in early, please visit your MyCard Account to submit a request for Pre-Semester Early Arrival. Any student who enters their residence hall prior to August 20, and has not made arrangements with the Office of Student Housing and Meal Plan Services, will be charged $50 per day.

If you plan to arrive after 5:30pm on August 20, please contact the Office of Student Housing and Meal Plan Services at 513-529-5000 to make check-in arrangements and to guarantee your preferred room assignment. If you have already made arrangements to arrive prior to August 20, due to specific programs or activities, please refer to your individual arrival date and time.

Health and Safety Reminders

E2Campus Emergency Text Messaging System
Have you signed up for Miami Emergency Text Messaging System? It's called e2Campus, and it's a system that lets designated university officials send time-sensitive communications to your cell phone via text message. The only time you’ll get text messages from e2Campus is if there’s an emergency on campus (e.g. power outage, University closing, dangerous situation on campus, etc.). Make sure to sign up for e2Campus! Click here for more information and to sign up.

Miami University Police Department
Miami University has its own Police Department located on campus to maintain a safe community. The Miami University Police Department (MUPD) is composed of 29 sworn police officers commissioned by the State of Ohio, 6 communication specialists and 5 civilian support staff. The MUPD headquarters is located on Oxford-Trenton Road (State Road 73) across from the John W. Brown Stables, and you can reach MUPD at 513-529-2222. For more information, visit www.muohio.edu/police.

Student Counseling Service
Do you need someone to talk with about homesickness, relationships, or managing stress? Make an appointment at the Student Counseling Service. The Student Counseling Service offers a wide range of psychological, psychiatric, and counseling services for students, providing help for most psychological, emotional, and interpersonal concerns. All staff are trained and experienced in dealing with the problems and concerns of first year students, and all services are confidential and completely separate from academic records. For more information about Student Counseling Service, please visit www.muohio.edu/studentcounseling.

Sexual Assault Prevention and Response
The Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program at Miami spreads awareness and educates students about ways to reduce the risk of being involved with a sexual assault. There are several resources available for those who may have been affected by a sexual assault through many on and off-campus offices, including a victim advocate through the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program. For information on support services, other resources, or how to become a peer educator on sexual assault prevention, please visit www.muohio.edu/sexualassault.
