Building a Community Center in Ghana

Wait where am I going tomorrow morning?! I still cannot believe I will be going to Ghana for 6 weeks. Sure I am ridiculously excited and day dreaming about what it is going to be like there, but I am also uncontrollably nervous. Have I over packed, am I bringing enough money, do I have the right visa, what if my camera stops working, what if my bag gets stolen? (Answers in order: yes, no, I am sure it is fine, others will be taking pictures, and I will cope)

Its hard enough traveling abroad, but knowing you will be gone for 6 weeks and being unfamiliar with the country makes it all the more difficult. Despite having a lot of stamps in my passport and spending two semesters studying overseas, I still get worried before I travel.

The most important advice I ever got when it comes to traveling was: “All you need is your plane ticket, passport, and credit card. The rest can be bought or borrowed and worse comes to worse you can always just turn around and get on the next fight home” (thanks Mom).

I have never actually gotten on a return flight home, but it is comforting to know that is always an option.

This is going to be an amazing trip and I am sure it will be one of the most fantastic adventures of my life. I will stop stressing out right.......... NOW!
